Laser eye surgery for all stages of life

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Using light waves, OCT provides detailed images of the retina, optic nerve and cornea, helping to detect eye diseases that may affect visual prognosis before surgery.

OCT allows us, through light waves, to obtain images of the retina, the optic nerve and there are also modalities that obtain corneal images and images of the front part of the eye. With this we seek to evaluate risk or pre-existing ocular diseases that may affect the visual prognosis after surgery, such as:

1. Diseases of the macula (the central retina, which is the fabric on which the image in the eye is focused), which include Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Edema, Macular Hole, Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Vitreous Traction.

2. Diseases of the optic nerve (the cable that connects the eye to the brain), which include Glaucoma, Diabetic Papillopathy, Optic Neuropathy, and Optic Nerve Edema.

3. Diseases of the anterior segment of the eye (anterior chamber, iris and lens), including Narrow Angle, Advanced Cataract that pushes the iris forward, Iris Injuries and Anterior Chamber Implants or Artifacts.

4. Corneal diseases, including leukomas or corneal opacities, which can be treated with an excimer laser modality called PTK. The OCT tells us how deep the laser must treat to eliminate these lesions.
