Graduated with honors from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), she completed a subspecialty in anterior segment corneal and refractive surgery at the Hospital Central Militar de México, in addition to training in preparation techniques and lamellar corneal transplant at the tissue bank of the Mexican Institute of Social Security. She has a diploma in methodological and statistical fundamentals applied to the development of health research projects from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and is a professor at the UASD. She also completed the basic course in ophthalmology at the University of Puerto Rico.
