He completed his medical degree at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and then specialized in Ophthalmology at the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces. She sub-specialized in refractive and corneal surgery at Centro Laser, with an international endorsement by the Alliance of Refractive Surgeons in their sub-specialization program in refractive surgery. During this period she also served as a cornea and refractive instructor for the ophthalmology residents at the Hospital Central de Las Fuerzas Armadas. She continued her training in Cataract and Anterior Segment Surgery at Dr. Elias Santana Hospital, where she also had the opportunity to be an instructor for the ophthalmology residents.
As a subspecialist he participated in work on Corneal Allogeneic Corneal Rings (CAIRS) for the treatment of keratoconus, continuing with a comparative study of CAIRS versus conventional rings. He also conducted research on the use of topical Losartan for corneal opacities and fibrosis.
His areas of expertise include advanced cataract surgeries after laser surgery (PRK, LASIK, SMILE), minimally invasive anterior segment surgeries, refractive lens exchange surgeries for the correction of presbyopia and astigmatism, corneal laser surgeries for those with myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism (ReLEx SMILE, LASIK, PRK), phakic lenses (ICL), corneal cross-linking, corneal rings (conventional and CAIRS).
